Uttar Pradesh's Potatoes Make Their Debut in the US

In a remarkable development, Uttar Pradesh's potatoes have found their way to foreign shores for the first time, with a consignment of 29 metric tons being exported to Guyana in the United States. This significant achievement was made possible through the efforts of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and marks a substantial step towards doubling farmers' incomes, as envisioned by the Yogi Adityanath-led government.

According to officials from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), this commercial export of potatoes to the city of Guyana in the United States is a groundbreaking move. The exported potatoes were procured from FPOs in Aligarh and were carefully packed at cold storage facilities. These 29 metric tons of potatoes will be shipped to Guyana via sea routes.

The establishment of an Agricultural Export Center:

Simultaneously, local farmers and entrepreneurs in Aligarh are collaborating to become exporters. Plans are underway to establish an Agricultural Export Center in Aligarh, a move that could provide employment opportunities to thousands of people in the region.

Doubling Farmers' Incomes:

Uttar Pradesh's Yogi government is actively working to double the incomes of its farmers. As part of this initiative, farmers are being encouraged to become exporters through FPOs.
