The central government has become alert to control the rising price of Arhar. For this, the central government has formed a committee. This committee will check the stock of traders. Actually, within a month, the price of tur has increased by 5 percent. Due to this, the possibility of Arhar Dal becoming expensive has increased. At the same time, the average price of tur was recorded at Rs 8282 per quintal on Monday in Gulbarga mandi of Karnataka, while it was close to Rs 7889 per quintal a month ago. Although, the government had fixed the support price of tur for this season at Rs 6600 a quintal, but the price is higher than this. In such a situation, experts say that pulses can become expensive in the coming days.

Talking about the mandi price in Indore, there is a constant change in the prices of grains and vegetables. There has been a tremendous decline in the price of soyabean as compared to the previous days. Dollar gram prices are higher than the previous day. There has been a decline in the price of Desi Chana, the price of Masoor has increased and the price of Tur has increased.

The latest update on this is that the government has announced setting up a committee to monitor the stock position which shows the government's intention to deal with hoarders and unscrupulous speculators in the market. This decision also shows the determination of the government to keep the prices of Arhar Dal under control in the coming months. Besides this, the Central Government is also closely monitoring the stock position of other pulses in the domestic market so that necessary steps can be taken immediately in case of an unexpected increase in the prices of pulses during the coming months of the year.

The Government had issued an advisory to the States/UTs on August 12, 2022, with a view to implement the mechanism of display of stock regarding availability of Toor Dal under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. In yet another initiative, the government has removed 10 per cent duty applicable for Arhar dal imports from non-LDC countries as any duty creates procedural issues even for zero duty imports from these LDC countries
