.However, now there is good news for the farmer brothers. Dr. Mahabal Ram, a scientist from the Department of Agriculture, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Science in Naini, Prayagraj, and his colleagues have developed a new variety of wheat. This species is W-14 (GIM-20-9). Agricultural scientists of Shuats say that this variety of wheat will increase the production of farmers' crops and their income will also increase.
Dr. Shailesh Markar, Director of Naini Department Research Department presented the proposal of this species, which was accepted unanimously. Dr. Markar told that generally the farmer produces 30 to 35 quintals of wheat in one hectare. At the same time, now they can grow 49 to 50 quintals of wheat from this new species.
Dr. Markar told that the new variety of wheat gets ripe in 110-115 days. The height of its plants is 95-100 cm. This variety is suitable for timely sown and irrigated condition. This is because it is resistant to brown rust, leaf blight, loose smut and colon bunt.
Also, its grain is soft and its bread is very good to eat. He informed that the wheat developed by the department has been notified to the Government of India through gazette notification. It is being passed on to the farmers. Farmers are also liking the new varieties of wheat developed. This variety is resistant to high temperature as well as gives high yield with less fertilizer and water.
