In the initial phase, tomato was selling at Rs 5 to 7 per kg. Due to this the rent of the farmers' car was also not being met. Due to the arrival of tomatoes in huge quantity from Haryana in various mandis of the country, the prices had come down considerably. Haryana season is about to end now. In such a situation, the farmers of the state expect the rate of tomato to reach Rs 50 per kg.
In the state's biggest vegetable market Solan, during the last year, a crate of Himsona tomato was sold for Rs. Most of the tomato and other cash crops are produced in the villages of Epiran, Trahai, Nova, Lakhoti, Dublu, Talenji, Gowda, Shargaon and Neineti villages of Junga region. About ten vehicles are being sent daily from these areas to different mandis.
