While the harvesting of Zaid crops is going on in many states, farmers in some states have started preparations for the sowing of Kharif crops. In order to protect the crops from economic losses due to natural calamities, it is necessary
that the farmers insure their crops so that they can be repaid in case of crop damage. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, being run since 2016, ensures protection against crop loss during the entire crop cycle activities from sowing to post-harvest. In some states, the process of nomination of farmers under the crop insurance scheme has started and in some states, the sowing of crops will begin simultaneously.Farmer registration started in these states for Kharif 2021
For the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, only seven states have joined for the Kharif crop of 2021. This state is as follows: - Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, and Jammu and Kashmir. Under this scheme, other states can join with further sowing of Kharif crops by June 15. At present, farmers of 7 states can apply under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
Only 4 states of the country have joined for the insurance year 2021 of the weather-based crop. This state is as follows:- Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are included. Farmers of these four states can provide insurance for weather-based crops. Last year, farmers of 19 states were included in the crop insurance scheme, the insurance of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana running in the country since the year 2016 has started in the Kharif year 2021. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana was operated in 390 districts of 19 states and union territories of the country. Under the scheme, 36 crops were insured by the farmers. Different crops were covered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in different districts.
Under crop insurance schemes, indebted farmers should get registration done like this. All non-indebted farmers have notified crop growers, who are willing to join the scheme. They can be included in the scheme by having the sowing confirmation certificate verified by the Regional Patwari or Rural Agricultural Extension Officer and submitting other documents.
Under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, 2 percent farmer premium amount is fixed for Kharif crops, 5 percent premium amount for horticultural crops. Such farmers who have not taken any kind of loan can apply for insurance proposal form, latest Aadhar card, bank passbook, land ownership proof B-1 Panchsala or tenant or partner farmer's document, sowing certificate in Kisan Bank, Co-operative Society, and Public Service Center. And you can get insurance by giving a declaration form.
Under the Crop Insurance Scheme, loanee farmers can get this way done under the registration scheme, loanee farmers can get crop insurance on a voluntary basis. The farmer must submit the signed declaration form in the prescribed form, 7 days before the last date of insurance, to the concerned bank.
If the farmer does not submit the declaration form in the prescribed form, the short-term agricultural loan sanctioned or renewed for the respective season by the concerned bank is to be insured compulsorily. Under the insurance scheme, the loanee farmers will be compulsorily insured by the concerned bank, cooperative society. They only have to produce a declaration and sowing certificates.

Farmers will have to carry an Aadhaar number, bank passbook, land record/tenancy agreement, and self-declaration certificate to complete the enrollment process. This season, all the farmers enrolled under the scheme will be informed about their application status through regular SMS on their registered mobile numbers.
