According to the Meteorological Department, Tauktae will turn into a severe cyclone in the next 24 hours and very severe after that. The cyclone will turn towards Porbandar in Gujarat region between the afternoon of 18 May 2021 and towards Pakistan. During this period, it is expected to wreak havoc on Porbandar and Nalia coast.
More than 70 villages in Karnataka have been affected by the Tauktae cyclone so far. The impact of the Tauktae storm has started to appear in Goa. According to the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority, due to the cyclone tout, 6 districts, 3 coastal districts and 3 Malnad districts received heavy to very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours.
In Kerala, the impact of cyclone ' Tauktae has started showing. Malappuram in Kerala is raining heavily.
According to the Meteorological Department, Tauktae cyclone will pass between Bhavnagar to Porbandar. It has been estimated that during this time the wind speed will be so high that the districts of Bhavnagar, Amreli, Girsomnath, Junagadh and Porbandar can suffer a lot of damage. Currently, all operations at Pipavav port of Amreli have been stopped.
