Farmers have to suffer due to lockdown?

Strict restrictions have been imposed in Washim district due to the rapidly growing corona infection. The district administration has ordered the closure of everything except hospitals and medical facilities. Farmers are being hit hard. It is time to rot in the

watermelon field in Risod taluka. It has cost Rs. 70,000 for planting and the farmers are in trouble as it is not being recovered. Therefore, it is being demanded that the district administration should help these farmers.

The watermelons were ready for sale and strict restrictions were imposed in the district to prevent corona infection. As the cost of planting is not recovered, the question of how to do kharif sowing has arisen before the farmers. 

The farmers are demanding that the district administration help us. In Wardha, angry farmers formed a pile of fruits at the Collector's office. A strict lockdown was imposed in Wardha district from May 8 to May 13 morning, but it was extended for another five days on Wednesday. A pile of various fruits was piled up in the tehsil office.Farmers are suffering due to repeated restrictions imposed by the administration without any planning. The fruits and vegetables of the farmers' fields are rotting in the fields. There was a huge outrage over the unbearable financial blow to the farmers.

When will we get seeds and fertilizer for kharif season?

Pre-monsoon rains have started in some parts of the state and farmers have started preparations for sowing. Farmers are cultivating seeds and fertilizers. Against this backdrop, the state government has taken a big decision. Farmers will get seeds and fertilizers five days before the deadline. The seeds were to be sold on May 30 this year. However, now the same sale will start five days earlier, i.e. from May 25.

Sow after sufficient rainfall

The rain cycle has changed over the last few years. There have been incidents of farmers plowing for several days due to rains. This is the reason why farmers have been suffering financially for the last few years. Therefore, even if the seeds are purchased early this year, farmers should sow only after sufficient rains, the state government has said.

Meanwhile, the state currently has some restrictions on opening agricultural shops as there are corona restrictions. Therefore, with this in mind, the state government has said that agricultural shops in the state can be kept open till 10 am. The decision is said to give farmers a fair time to buy seeds as well as fertilizers.
