The snowfall and hailstorms in various parts of Himachal Pradesh have caused heavy damage to apple orchards and other staggered crops. Apple trees are uprooted from the root due to snowfall. Anti-helnets and standing structures have collapsed. The twigs of the apple tree are broken. The apple crop has suffered heavy losses in the upper reaches of Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur, Lahaul, Chamba, Mandi and Kangra.


According to the assessment report reached at the state headquarters, horticulture crops have suffered a loss of about 5.84 crore so far. A detailed report will be submitted to the government on Monday. On the other hand, in the BBN area of ​​the plains districts of Kangra, Hamirpur, Una and Solan, the harvested wheat crop has deteriorated in the fields. In some areas, the standing crop has started turning black. 30% of the wheat crop has been destroyed in the BBN area. At the same time, mangoes, litchi, peaches and plums have been damaged.


In Kullu district, apple crop has suffered between 50 and 80 percent loss due to snowfall and hailstorm. In Kinnaur too, there has been significant damage to horticulture. In Chamba, the department has assessed 25 percent loss to the planters. In Solan's Dangri Panchayat, Basal, Chail, Dharampur, 70 percent of the plants of tomato and capsicum have been destroyed. Fruit flowering has occurred from fruit plants with damage to peach and apple flowering in Nauradhar area of ​​Sirmaur. Vegetables including peas and tomatoes have also suffered damage. The twigs of apple plants have broken off in high altitude areas including Karsog in Mandi.

Horticulture sector has suffered a loss of about 5.84 crores. Reports are awaited from several parts of Chamba and Shimla districts. After this, the detailed report will be sent to the government on Monday. Agriculture Director Naresh Thakur said that reports of damage to agricultural crops have to come. The wheat crop has reaped in most areas. New crops are being sown in many areas. In some areas the wheat crop has not been cut, there is moisture in the crops.
