Demand for black wheat seeds is increasing in western Uttar Pradesh but the availability of seeds is low. Its seed is not yet in the market. At the moment, the farmers who have produced the seed are fulfilling it. Farmers are also being made aware of this through 13 Krishi Vigyan Kendras attached to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology.
Black wheat seed was developed by the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (Nabi) of Punjab. This wheat is considered effective in curing cancer, sugar, obesity, cholesterol and heart diseases.
Farmers are also excited about its wheat yield. The farmers who have started the seed at a small level, are now giving it to other farmers. Although the month of November is best for its sowing, it can be sown till December 10.

Omkar Tyagi, a resident of Barkali village in Muzaffarnagar, says that he brought one kg of black wheat seed two years ago. He has prepared the seed by sowing it. Along with farming, he is also giving wheat seeds to farmers.
Right now few farmers are cultivating it in West UP. It has great medicinal properties, which is beneficial for human health and is also beneficial for many diseases.
