Gopal Dutt Upreti, a resident of the Ranikhet block in Uttarakhand, studied in Delhi. After a diploma in civil engineering, he worked in building construction for about 14-15 years
.However, after that, there was some turning point in his life that he left the Delhi lifestyle and returned to the village and started farming. Today they are doing hi-tech farming of fruits and spices on 8 acres of land. The annual turnover is more than 12 lakh rupees. He is the first smart farmer in India to be ranked in the Guinness Book of World Records for organic farming.
Gopal Dutt shifted from Delhi to Ranikhet in 2014-15 and the family and children remained in Delhi. After coming to Ranikhet, took some land on rent and started farming. Instead of ordering plants from abroad, we should ask for plants from Himachal Pradesh itself. Gopal Dutt planted around 1000 saplings on three acres of land. A year later, fruits were ready in those plants.
After the fruits were ready, the biggest question before Gopal Dutt was where to sell it now. Since, the price of our apples is not found in local Mandis, which is available outside. Then Gopal Dutt with the help of Google gathered information about such stores and companies that demand organic apples. Calling them gave information about their product feature quality. Most of the people did not believe that they are waiting for time, but the response of those who took an apple from us in the initial phase was very good. From the next time both the customer and demand increased and some people started booking advance.
Gopal Dutt also cultivates many spices including turmeric, garlic, coriander along with apples, not even an inch of land should be vacated. In the same year, Gopal Dutt has registered his name in the Guinness Book of World Records by growing 7 feet coriander. Coriander production is about 10 times more than normal coriander and the quality is also good and thinking that now its patents are also going to be patented.
In 2012, I went to Europe with some friends and went to apple orchards and the weather, snowfall, land was very much like my Ranikhet. After coming back to India from there, I started to find out where the training for its cultivation is, what is the process and how can I do that. After some time I went to the Netherland and met many experts there, and the whole process of apple cultivation Understood. During this time, he had to go to France for a few days and saw the apple cultivation there and also took training for him.
