Stubble burning Petition and farmers Protest against Central Govt?

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court in the case of the Stubble Burning of farmers. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions on the state governments of Punjab and Haryana

to ensure a complete ban on the burning of stubble. SC to hear the case on 6 October. 

Last year, the Supreme Court had summoned the Chief Secretary of Punjab, Haryana, UP, and Delhi on the issue of burning straw, saying that the administration and police officials would be held accountable for any incident of burning of straw. It has started again. The Supreme Court had asked the government to provide compensation, stove removal machines, and other facilities to the farmers to prevent them from burning the straw.

States have also been asked to order all the small and marginal farmers to pay the amount spent by them for renting such machines. Instructing the inclusion of stubble removal from private farms in the list of work allowed under MNREGA so that MNREGA workers can be used to ensure removal of stubble where there are no machines. The petition states that the states should directly provide for heavy fines/punishment on the farmers who burn the straw in their fields, to motivate them by the facilities provided by the states to remove the straw.

The Agriculture Bills 2020 passed by Parliament has now become law after the President's signature. But the protests of farmers and opposition parties are going on.

Protests are going on across the country against three new farmer laws by the central government. Even in South India, farmers have come out on the streets. Despite being a BJP-ruled state, farmers protested in the state against the agriculture bill as well as the land reform bill of Karnataka. Farmers allege that potato onion pulses will not get the minimum support price since the new law, which may cause them trouble. However, this has been consistently denied by the central government.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh staged a sit-in on Monday as a protest against three new farmer laws. During this, he attacked the central government and asked 'why MSP has not been included in the Bills. Farmers of Punjab are demonstrating against the farmers' bills passed in Parliament. Amarinder Singh also staged a sit-in against it on Monday and became the first chief minister to join the protest against the Centre.

The central Govt should think and discuss again on agriculture ordinances and Consider a law to dismiss the agricultural bills of the Centre.
