Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given his in-principle consent to the proposal of the Uttar Pradesh State Sugar Corporation to restart these two sugar mills closed for years. Sugarcane work will start running smoothly in these areas once again.
Together, the PPP model will be rebuilt with state-of-the-art machinery. In addition to crushing sugarcane, a cozen plant and distillery will be set up to make electricity from sugarcane bagasse. Crushing in both these mills is set to start from the year 2022.
Now the state government is looking at restarting eight more closed sugar mills of this corporation. Sugarcane work is still going on in some areas, at some places farmers have stopped planting sugarcane. If farmers plant sugarcane there, then the rest can be started smoothly.
If we talk about the closed mill, then the Maholi mill was closed in Sitapur 1998-1999, the same Budhwal Barabanki was closed in 2007 - 2008. Others like Mathura, Meerut, Rampur, Kanpur, Gonda, and Ghazipur are still closed.

This time, total Kharif crops were sown in 691.86 lakh hectare as against 570.86 lakh hectare area during the same period last year. Thus, the sowing area has increased by 21.20 percent as compared to last year.
