A good news for the farmers to increase the farmer income. The Yogi government took a major decision to increase the income of farmers and achieve the goal of ease of doing business. 46 fruits and vegetables in the state have been excluded from the notification of the Mandi Act. That is, now there will be no mandi fee of any kind.

In the cabinet meeting held on 06 May 2020, the proposals for amendment in the Uttar Pradesh Agricultural Produce Market Act were approved. These will be implemented through ordinance. After the implementation of these amendments, Uttar Pradesh has become one of the leading states in making significant improvements in the agricultural sector.
Farmers will be able to free to sell these products to traders and processing units. They will also be able to sell them directly to consumers. Not only this, through a digital platform, but you will also be able to take a reasonable price by selling anywhere in the country.
Mandi Parishad will incur a revenue loss of Rs 124.58 crore annually due to this decision of the government. The facility of trading of fruits and vegetables excluded from the notification will be operated in the Mandi premises as before.
If a businessman wants to use the mandi premises for this, then they have to pay service charges or user charges instead of mandi charges. That too when they will buy and sell these products in the Mandi premises.
After these amendments, mandi duty will be paid only on the business of potato, onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, chili, and lemon in 53 types of fruits and vegetables in the state.
