As we are seeing that from the last few days the weather has changed. Weather conditions and climate change play an important role in crop quality and production. By this article we read about this weather is beneficial and harmful for which crops.

In the last 48 hours very light to light is observed in Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal and some parts of Tamilnadu. Light rain observed in few places of Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Moderate fog is also observed in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and coastal Odisha in the morning time.  A fall in night temperature is seen in these areas.

During the next 12 hours light rainfall with thunderstorms may occur over Bihar, Jharkhand, Northern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. Day temperature may increase in Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh.


This all about the weather lets read its impact on crops. This weather is beneficial for the wheat and barley because irrigation is required in wheat and barley crops in Northern and central India but, this weather can affect the quality of gram and mustard. Due to wind gusts, the fruit of mustard/rai is damaged or chance of whitefly attack in mustard. This cloudy weather and high temperature are favorable for insect pests and disease attacks over Pea, gram, lentil, mustard, pigeon pea, linseed, brinjal, and chilies.

Farmers are advised to irrigate the wheat crop at the PI and Anthesis stage and also topdressing of urea at optimum moisture during at tillering stage. In rabi maize top dressing of urea at optimum moisture during knee height. In Brinjal/Chilies irrigation should be done and pick up mature fruits in standing crops. Potato growing farmers can do or monitor the crop from late blight if the symptoms occur or seen spray 2.0g or metalaxyl 1.5-2.5 g in 1 liter of water.  Dig out early sown potato crop.
