Weather Impact on Crops

As we had noticed that in the last few days weather is cloudy in the northern region where most of the country's parts are remain dry. But now the weather has again turned into a new direction due to A fresh western disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this western disturbance a chance of cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and Punjab. Due to this a possibility of rain with hail may occur over some parts of the country during the next 72 hours. It is also expected that the maximum temperature is dropped by 3-4 degrees Celcius in northern India.


During next 3 days scattered light to moderate rain may occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, and North Rajasthan, where light rain may occur over coastal parts of Karnataka, Kerala, and a few parts of Madhya Pradesh.

 A fresh new snowfall activity is also expected at Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand during the next 48 hours where hailstorm activity at a few places over Haryana and Punjab with thunderstorm, lighting and Wind Gusts. The remaining parts of the country remain dry with cloudy weather.

Let's discuss its impact on crops. Firstly we discuss wheat because it is the main rabi crop and is in the grain formation stage. Farmers should monitor the wheat crop for yellow rust to detect the initial foci of infection if infected spray the fungicide like Tilt/Shine/Bumper/Markzole/Stilt/Compass or Opera because the weather is favorable for disease.

There are fewer chances of insect attack in the wheat crop if the crop is damaged due to armyworm or aphid, control them by using Ekalux for armyworm and Actara/Taiyo for aphids.
In Mustard crop, a chance of white rust and aphid attack may occur, control white rust with Ridomil Gold and Aphid by Roger 30 EC.

Weather is favorable for the Sowing of okra, cucurbits, and transplanting of tomato, brinjal, chili. Late blight attack may occur over Potato Crop. Dig the early sowing potato before the rain accumulation. Apply the application of the fertilizers to the fruit crop.
